Our range is located on a lease with Tasman Pine Forests on Gourmet Road in Dovedale accessed through a locked boom gate that can be opened by an RFID tag you are issued after induction. It consists of three pistol ranges and a 400m rifle range.
No firearms or ammunition are kept on the premises.
The safe area is where members remove their pistols from their locked cases and holster. Strictly no ammunition in this area! We have available a PLB and AED in a locked case accessed by member RFID Fob in the Safe Area. A full first aid kit is available in the foyer between the two storage containers.
There are noticeboards on every range that display the Police range certificate, the restrictions and conditions of use of the range, club emergency procedures and a bound copy of the range standing orders.
All shooters must sign in before shooting. Shooters sit and must pass the club’s range safety officer course prior to obtaining membership. All shooting must be carried out under a duty range officer who must display their badge on the hook on the notice board. Range commands issued by the duty range officer must be obeyed by all shooters at that range.
The range is open from 9am to 7pm daily.
But strictly no shooting in the dark (think winter months!)
Rifle shooters are tolerated on Sundays, the major event for pistol shooters each week. Note that on some Sundays a course of fire for pistol shooting is set up on the rifle range for Full Members and as on most Sundays there is maintenance work being performed on or around the range prior to the pistol shoot, it may be inaccessible from 10am through 3pm.
